One of the many regulatory agencies in our country, the Food and Drug Administration is around to make sure the stuff we put in our bodies is safe to consume. Recently, the FDA has taken to the front lines to bravely combat what can only be described as a ticking time bomb to the public safety of Americans: CBD.

“Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued warning letters to 15 companies for illegally selling products containing cannabidiol (CBD) in ways that violate the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act).”
That’s right! Forget all that stuff you’ve heard about the positive effects CBD has on the lives of countless people. It has yet to be approved by the FDA, so apparently there is an actionable threat: CBD is trying to kill us in our sleep, assume our identities and teach our children the improper way to pick up heavy objects!

“Many unanswered questions and data gaps about CBD toxicity exist, and some of the available data raise serious concerns about potential harm from CBD. The revised Consumer Update outlines specific safety concerns related to CBD products, including potential liver injury, interactions with other drugs, drowsiness, diarrhea, and changes in mood.”
The FDA regulates a lot of things. Cigarettes, opiates, whatever evil lab chemicals make the “pizza” flavor possible in so many non-pizza products, and aspartame — the diet sweetener that pickles your brain. The FDA has done extensive research into all of these things and approved them for public consumption anyway. It’s proven these products kill people, we KNOW they are unhealthy, cause cancer, etc., yet they are safe according to the FDA.
A century of misguided prohibition has limited any statistically significant research on cannabis and its derivatives. This means that even though it’s impossible to cite a single death caused by CBD, it hasn’t technically been proven by our FDA friends not to be deadly. So, until then, CBD may very well be a bioterrorist campaign set on wiping out American via the most ineffective poison ever. The joke’s on them — because it’s the only poison that helps my friends sleep better at night with zero negative side effects.

In line with our mission to protect the public, foster innovation, and promote consumer confidence, this overarching approach regarding CBD is the same as the FDA would take for any other substance that we regulate.”
Wowee, it sure is great the FDA is here to protect us! It gives me great peace to know I can kick back, light up a cigarette, drink a diet soda, eat a hamburger with allowable levels of fecal matter — all while knowing the government is protecting me from the real evils of the world, like CBD.
Remember, my fellow Americans: Nothing is safe until the government tells you so.
